Abstract
In Korea, family medicine introduced in the later part of 1978.
Since then, a lot of progress and achievements has been made in the development of family medicine as the new discipline which modify and compensate the disadvantages of specialty system-fragmented health care-which has been adopted since early 1960.
However, there has been a few baseline data on family medicine.
Therefore, to know the knowledge, attitude and practice toward the family medicine among general population of Korea will be urgent and beneficial for the future development of family medicine in Korea.
For this study, 6 different groups were selected as the sample and the results were as follows.
1. Total number of samples are 915. Among them, male population was 58.3% and female population was 41.7% respectively.
2. Among 915 respondents, 65.5% was ever heard about family medicine.
3. 81.2% answered family medicine is really necessary for the Korea medical care.
4. 64.2% answered they will reqister to family physician for their medical care in future.
