Abstract
The fracture including dislocation of joint and associated injuries are mostly caused by trauma.
The treatment of fractures are classified as two big categories of conservative and operative. The operative treatment of fractures are indicated primarily for open fractures, failed by conservative methods, non-union and predicted one which needs operative care from the beginning.
As a family practitioner, it is important to differenciate what fractures to be treated by operative method from the beginning since he manages the patient in the early phase of their disability. The indications of operative treatment are the unstable fracture, complicated displacement of fragment and to save time loss for the fracture healing.
The further details of differenciation of fractures for operative treatment are discussed on each bone and parts for the reference of family practitioners.
