Abstract
Clinical records of 30 patients with Mycoplasma pneumoniae treated at the Severance and Yong-Dong Severance Hospitals from August, 1985 to September, 1986 with Mycoplasma pneumoniae by Serologic tests.
In addition to the clinical characteristics, the familial associations and the frequencies of contact among them have been examined.
The conclusions are as followings.
1) Mycoplasma pneumoniae was highly contagious and exhibited tendency of intrafamilial spread.
2) Mycoplasma pneumoniae spreaded slowly and secondary, infection occured at 17 to 26 day intervals.
3) Positive rate for Mycoplasma pneumoniae antibody titer was higher than that of cold agglutinin titer.
4) Mycoplasma pneumoniae did not respond to the usual antibiotics for bacterial pneumoniae and had good therapeutic results with erythromycin.
5) Consideration of possibility of Mycoplasma pneumoniae is required in case of pneumoniae with delayed response.
