Abstract
A clinical observation has been made on 56 cases of pregnancy-induced hypertension pregnancy out of 1,165 cases delivered at the department of obstetrics and gynecology, Sung Nam Inha Hospital from Aug. 20, 1985 to May 31, 1988 and 53 cases out of 1,662 cases delivered at the department of obstetrics and gynecology, Buchon Sejong Hospital from Jan. 1, 1987 to July 31, 1988. And the same numbers of PIH deliveries conducted in the same period and hospital were used as control group on the basis of maternal age, parity and payment method.
A pregnancy whose blood pressure is above 140/90 mmHg was selected as criteria of PIH. The purpose of this study were ; (1) to evaluate the effect of prolonged gestation upon the pregnant woman and fetus ; and (2) to delineate a plan for the management of PIH patients.
The incidence of PIH was 3.9%. The following factors were analysed in the PIH delivery and control group of fullterm delivery; the numbers of antenatal care, gestational age, blood type, delivery method, total duration of labor, birth weight, placenta weight, Apgar scores(1 min and 5 min), maternal complications during and after delivery and fetal complications.
The results obtained in this study were ; lower gestation age, lower birth weight, lower placenta weight, lower Apgar score and-more fetal complications were found in PIH group.
