In Korea, family medicine introduced in the later part of 1978.
Since then, a lot of progress has been made in family medicine.
However, there has been no baseline data so far. Therefore, to know the knowledge, attitude and practice toward family medicine among general population in Korea will be beneficial to the future development of family medicine.
For the first step, industrial workers were selected as the sample of this study.
Total number of persons who were interviewed was 177 and the result were as follows;
1. Among 177 interviewees, 55.7% heard about family medicine.
2. Among the nember who heard family medicine, 37.8% heard from newspaper, 25.6% from televison respectively.
3. 80.6% answered family medicine is really necessary in Korea and 72.7% said they will register to family medicine clinic in future.
